Adwell Brotai was born to a commoner family during the reign of King Horis. Upon coming of ag,e he attended the University Valetudinaria in Irisia. After receiving his degree, he dropped his last name, as is tradition, to symbolize that scholars are neither beholden to nor biased towards one family. Adwell researched at Valetudinaria until he was assigned as an advisor to the King’s diplomat, Camadan Ostan.

Ander is the elder son of the twins born to Camadan and Lladreses Ostan. He is the first member of a royal family to posses the ability to use magic, specifically fire magic, in many generations. Ander has a strong sense of loyalty and has always felt the need to protect his younger brother.

Andra was born to the Delpole family and married to Dean Curlett as soon as she became of age. While growing up she became accustomed to the fine style of living enjoyed by her family. Her new financial situation is a sore spot and Andra can be very touchy when it comes to discussing money and her husband’s wealth. She was very influential in arranging the marriage between her son and Kathryne Andrelet in hopes that the arrangement would bring financial stability to her house.

Camadan is Lord of the Ostan estate and is married to Lladreses. Lord Ostan is a major contendor for the Irisian crown. He is renowned for his skill in diplomacy and military strategy and has always been popular with his subjects. Under King Horis, Lord Ostan served as a personal advisor and a state diplomat. He successfully completed many negotiations between the noble families. Most Irisian scholars attribute the current state of peace and prosperity to his work after the Barbarian Wars were finished.

Dean has been the head of his house for over a decade. While the Curlett family is not as financially powerful as the other royal families, they still maintain a significant political presence simply due to their large numbers. Dean used this political influence to arrange the marriage between his son and Kathryne Andrelet.

Devon is the only child of Dean and Andra Curlett. Despite his father’s prodding to become involved in their tattoo trade, Devon has expressed little interest in anything other than chasing girls. It remains to be seen if his engagement to Kathryne will change this behavior.

Driases is a devoted soldier. He joined the Irisian military, the Legion, at a young age and rose through the ranks. His gifts for combat and his phenomenal physical prowess gained him almost instant notoriety. The Vanguard, an elite branch of the Legion, recruited Iveron when he turned 24. This made him the youngest member of the Vanguard in history. Iveron participated in all major military conflicts after joining the Vanguard. He later became famous throughout Irisia after assassinating the Barbarian King Ruechoff.

Juran has been a lifelong friend of Camadan. Juran served as a military advisor to King Horis during the Barbarian Wars, where his tactics lead to many influential victories. Due to his renown as a military strategist, however, his wife and daughter were targeted by trained Barbarian assassins as they were being transported from the Sade estate to Irisia. Their deaths are seen as one of the blackest marks of the war and caused Juran to sequester himself inside his castle for several months. While he has recently returned to the company of his friends, it is hard to say if he will ever be the same again.

Kathryne is renowned both for her beauty and family name. After coming of age she was almost immediately arranged to marry Devon Curlett. Despite her youth, Kathryne maintains an air of sophistication and repose. Due to her mother passing two years earlier, Kathryne is the only living heir to the Andrelet house.

Katul served with Iveron in the Legion during the Barbarian Wars. While older than Iveron, Katul still does his best to keep up with Iveron’s accomplishments. His persistence to excellence was the basis for his friendship with Iveron. Despite being mostly retired, Katul maintains a level of friendly competition with his old friend.

Kehvon is the highest ranking fire mage in the Legion, holding the title of Archmage, and the head of his house. Kehvon gained fame by single handedly wiping out multiple units of enemy forces during the Barbarian Wars. He has leveraged this fame, as well as the arranged marriage of his daughter, to bring significant clout to his family. Kehvon is also the head instructor at Treispira, the magic training institution of the Legion.

Lladreses was born to Lord and Lady Torvale. Before his death, King Horis dictated the marriages between several of the royal families in an attempt to create unity. Lladreses’ marriage to Camadan was the first of these and a great success. Since the marriage, the Torvales have readily lent their support to the Ostans, mostly due to Lladreses’ diplomatic role between the families. Several years after her marriage, Lladreses gave birth to a pair of fraternal twins. She named them Ander and Maran.

Maran is the younger son of the twins born to Camadan and Lladreses Ostan. Like his brother, he is one of the first members of a royal family to be able to use magic. Unlike his brother, however, Maran is can wield ice magic. Being the youngest son in the family, Maran continually feels that he has to prove himself to both his peers and parents.
